I really didn´t expect such a colorful autumn in the almost treeless country of Iceland. But this small island exceeded all my expectations I had about autumn in Iceland. The typical autumn colors like yellow and red mix with the green moss and the black lava stones. Especially the regions of Myvatn, Vesturland and Pingvellir were really colorful during our visit in the last week.

Best time for autumn in Iceland
To see all these beautiful autumn colors of Iceland you should go there in September or early October. Even if it´s already getting a bit colder it is worth a visit to see these spectacular icelandic landscape in autumn. This is also a good time to see the northern lights here in Iceland.
